Keep your system up-to-date with operating system security updates and anti-virus updates.
Avoid installing software of dubious origin (e.g. anything sent via email, even if it appears to come from a friend). “Joke” programs and animated greeting cards may contain keystroke loggers!
Avoid the use of shared passwords for online payment services.
Be careful not to be misled by spoof “phishing” emails. Never click on a PayPal link in an email. To visit PayPal, type www.paypal.com into your web browser.
After using an online payment service, use the Log Out function on the payment website. If the Log Out function is not visible, you should close all browser windows.
Please refer to the Security Center area of PayPal.com for more information on the precautions you should take to minimise the potential for fraud when using an online payment service.
If you do not accept the risks inherent in using an online payment service, please send us your payment by post using a crossed cheque written in permanent ink made payable to INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN BICYCLING ASSOCIATION UK.
